Mission Statement

Talking Tandems is working towards a society where all blind or partially sighted people have the opportunity to tandem cycle within their local community.

Talking Tandems’ mission from 2009 to 2012 is to achieve an increase in the number of people tandem cycling in locations throughout Fife, providing individuals and groups with a regular, flexible, affordable and sustainable tandem cycling programme thus promoting the inclusion of individuals who are blind or partially sighted in mainstream cycling activities.

Our Goals from 2009 to 2012

  1. To develop, organise and implement an accessible tandem cycling service in West and Central Fife for individuals who are blind or partially sighted by end of October 2009.
  2. To audit the accessibility of a range of cycle routes within Central and West Fife by the end of March 2010.
  3. To increase the number of people taking part in tandem cycling by end of October 2010.
  4. To evaluate and review the capacity and sustainability of Talking Tandems by end October 2011.
  5. To establish a social business enterprise for the hire, purchase, maintenance and repair of tandem cycles, relevant training in tandem cycling and a regular tandem cycling programme of events throughout Fife by end of October 2012.
