Moving Towards Inclusion

Talking Tandems

Talking Tandems is a Scottish Charity (SC040774) that aims to facilitate the social and health benefits of tandem cycling with people who are blind, partially sighted or have a duel sensory loss and who reside in the West or Central areas of Fife.

We aim to do this by giving our members access to one of our ten tandems and providing a volunteer sighted person to tandem cycle with them, either on a one-to-one or group cycle ride basis . We are based in Dalgety Bay and organise two group cycling session each month in and around Fife as well as occasional overnight and weekend trips as well as a one week trip each summer.

While our activities mainly relate to tandem cycling, we also facilitate;

  • Social activities such as a Pub Quiz night, Summer barbecue and Christmas meal.
  • Fundraising and Public Relations events.
  • Monthly Management Group Meetings which facilitate and organise the running of the charity. These meetings are open to all members.

If you live in West or Central Fife, would like to join us either as a sighted volunteer pilot to help others to enjoy cycling or if you or someone you know has sight loss issues and would like to try tandem cycling, we would love to hear from you. There is no obligation to join and full training is given from experienced sighted and visually impaired cyclists - see the Contact link on the left.
